Lester Laminack - Ever popular chilren’s author consultant, Lester uses his humor and warmth to communicate an important message not only on literacy, but on dignity and respect.
Carl Anderson – Author of new series Strategic Writing Conferences, writing consultant Carl Anderson has provided thousands of teachers with the information and confidence they need to make conferring an effective part of classroom practice.

Kelly Gallagher - A teacher with twenty one years of high school teaching experience, Kelly Gallagher shares his experience with adolescent readers and writers. Kelly is author of Deeper Reading, Reading Reasons, and Teaching Adolescent Writers.

Aimee Buckner - has spent the last fourteen years teaching and working with teachers from Kindergarten to grade 12. Her book Notebook Know-How and video series Inside Notebooks have given teachers insight into affective use of writer’s notebooks.

Stephanie Parsons - author of First Grade Writers, Second grade Writers, and coauthor with Lucy Calkins of Units of Study for Primary Writing, Stephanie is a literacy staff developer working with New York City Schools. Stephanie is now working on a units of study in reading for primary grades.

Max Brand - teacher, consultant, and author of Conferring With Boys, Day of Words(DVD), Practical Fluency, and Word Savvy, Max brings his specialties of word work, working with boys, and learning through discussions.

Frank Serafini - Frank uses his wit and humor to communicate his message of teaching through reader’s workshop. He is author of Lessons in Comprehension, Reading Aloud and Beyond, The Reading Workshop, and Around the Reading Workshop in 180 Days.

Dan Feigelson - Dan is author of the newly released book Practical Punctuation . With Dan’s background as principal and now a superintendent in New York City Schools, he will share his work with administrators as a literacy leader.

Candace Fleming - Children’s author Candace Fleming has always been a storyteller and uses the things she loves –stories, musical language, history, and reading- to write books. Candace authored such favorites as Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!, Boxes for Katje, Gabrielle’s Song, and Ben Franklin’s Almanac .

Gary Schmidt - author of the Newbery Honor and Printz Honor book Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy. His most recent book, The Wednesday Wars was 2008 Newbery Honor as well.

Jacqueline Woodson - our guest speaker at Dinner with the Author, Jacqueline is an award winning author of intermediate and young adult books as well as her powerful picture books such as The Other Side. Woodson won a Newbery Honor in 2006 for Show Way. Locomotion was a National Book Award finalist and won a Corretta Scott King Honor in 2004. Woodson also won a Corretta Scott King Honor in 2001 and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Miracle’s Boys , which was made into a mini-series.
