Jim Burke teaches English at Burlingame High School in California and is author of numerous books including ACCESSING School: Teaching Struggling Readers to Succeed in School and Life, and The English Teacher's Companion.

Penny Kittle is a teacher at Kennett High School in Conway, New Hampshire and is an elementary literacy coach K-5. Penny is author of The Greatest Catch, and co-authored Inside Writing: How to Teach the Details of Craft with Donald Graves.

Georgia Heard is an internationally recognized writer, speaker, and educational consultant known for her passion for poetry and writing. She has written numerous books including The Revision Toolbox, Awakening the Heart and Writing Towards Home.

Ellin Keene is co-author of Mosaic of Thought: Teaching Comprehension in a Readers' Workshop and author of soon to be released To Understand. Ellin is known for her wonderful work in comprehension strategies with students of all ages.

Lester Laminack inspires, rejuvenates, and tickles the funny bone in his presentations for educators. He is author of numerous professional and children's books such as Saturday and Teacakes, and Reading Across the Curriculum.

Katherine Bomer taught first grade for years and now is an author and educational consultant working with teachers and classrooms across the country. Her recent book, Writing a Life, has inspired teachers and students to write major memoir, knowing that their voices and stories are powerful.

Pam Munoz Ryan will be a special guest speaker at the first annual Blue Gate Dinner With the Authors on June 23rd at the Blue Gate Restaurant in Shipshewana. Pam is author of numerous children's picture books as well as chapter books, including Esperanza Rising, Hello Ocean, and her most recent, Paint the Wind. Check out www.pammunozryan.com.
